Breadcrumbs Productions, Inc. and Wunderbar Syr LLC are proud to launch their first Artist in Residence program. This program offers lodging and rehearsal/performance spaces to emerging and mid-career performance artists, who are seeking to develop new or existing work. Residencies are one to two weeks in duration and can incorporate a public performance if desired.
Artists will have access to a 125 seat Black Box theatre, two studio spaces, and dressing rooms. During the duration of the residency, it is requested that artists offer one workshop to the local arts community or alternate form of local engagement. Residency offers self-catered accommodations in a shared home with private bedrooms, a private living room, private bathroom, and a fully-stocked, shared kitchen facility. The accommodations are offered and shared by the owners of Wunderbar, Tanner and Nick, who live with their very lovely and quiet dog, Hera.

Can local artist apply?
Absolutely! If you do not require lodging, then the number of artists in your residency can be more than 4.
Do I have to create a public performance? It’s up to you. If you offer a public performance, we can charge tickets or it could be free. It could be an invited audience or open to the public. If we charge tickets, we offer a 50/50 ticket split with the artists.
How many artists can attend? Typically up to 4 artists per residency. Lodging is inclusive of two bedrooms with two single beds in each room. More artists can be accommodated with prior approval. If artists are local or otherwise do not require lodging, then a larger group of artists could attend the residency.
Travel Arrangements? All artists are responsible for their own travel to and from Syracuse. Breadcrumbs Productions will provide transportation to and from the local train and bus station as well as Syracuse airport. Wunderbar is only a 5 minute drive from the artists’ accommodation. Travel to and from the venue can be arranged if artists do not have their own vehicle.
Food Arrangements? All artists are responsible for their own food for the duration of the stay and have ample room in the fully equipped shared kitchen to store and cook their food. Breadcrumbs Productions will provide transportation to the grocery store upon arrival. As the venue is located in downtown Syracuse, there are restaurants and grocery stores within walking distance of Wunderbar and we encourage artists to explore our exciting and developing downtown areas.
