Who is Hughie?
Fresh off Lewberger's sold-out Off-Broadway run as music director, writer, and performer, Emmy Award-winning songwriter Hughie Stone Fish is coming to Syracuse for a teaching residency with Breadcrumbs Productions. Having worked with comedic greats like Wayne Brady, Keegan-Michael Key, Quinta Brunson and Jim Belushi, and with 6 years of experience teaching at the Second City, Hughie is uniquely qualified to help you hone your musical improv, musical comedy, and stage performance. Hughie has worked with Broadway casts from Chicago to & Juliet, Little Shop of Horrors to members of Les Mis and Beetlejuice. Musical Improv - Tuesday, October 10
With years of experience teaching musical improv at the Second City and working with some of the genre's greatest stars like Wayne Brady and Keegan-Michael Key, Hughie is excited to bring his knowledge to the city of Syracuse. In this workshop, students will delve into song structure,
exploring a strong point of view, and best practices around rhyming.
Comedy Songwriting - Tuesday, October 17
Dive headfirst into the realm of comedy songwriting with Emmy Award-winning and viral comedy songwriter Hughie Stone Fish. In this workshop and feedback session, Hughie will talk in depth about his experience in comedy songwriting as well as give feedback to select students on the songs they have brought in. This feedback session will be an opportunity to look at the art of comedy songwriting through a critical lens.
Song to Stage - Tuesday, October 24
Off-Broadway music director Hughie Stone Fish will help bring your song from the recording to the stage. Learn how to think as a director when you're writing your songs, and even get the chance to stage your song with guidance from Hughie.
